All hermit crabs are scavengers, whether they live on land or in the sea. This means that they will eat just about anything!

Large hermit crabs eat more than small hermit crabs. Uneaten food that is more than a week old should be discarded and replaced to avoid bacteria and fungal growth.

Hermit crabs are omnivorous, meaning they like to eat fruits, vegetables, and meats.

The best thing you can give your hermit crab is commercial hermit crab food that has been designed to give them the trace elements they would often find in the wild. I strongly recommend the use of Florida Marine Research (FMR) food and treat.

However, here are some other things your hermit crabs are bound to love!!

FRUITS: Diced apples, banana bits, grape halves, raisins, figs

VEGETABLES: Lettuce, carrot shavings, squash, potato, natural peanut butter

MEATS: Chicken, turkey, ham, cat food, dog food

OTHER: honey, tree leaves, choya wood, and calcium sources (such as coral, oyster shells, or fish bone)

PLEASE AVOID: Processed food that contains grease, excessive sugars, or table salt. Please do not serve your hermit crabs any dairy products.
Always have a dish of food in
your crabs' tank. They are
most likely to eat at night when
you are not looking.
